    This is Safari Camp:

At 17.00 our Safari Camp guides meet you to drive the car caravan into winding back roads up towards the area - beyond Kolmården's public areas. Then it's time to park the cars and walk the last bit with the pack on foot.

Once inside the area, you are allocated your accommodation in our cozy tent village; neighbor to all the wild animals of the savannah. Our safari tents have room for 2-4 people and are equipped with beds, elements and lamps. You have a sleeping bag and pillow in your own pack.

We also have two glamping tents placed in the best location next door the savannah with its own porch - do you look out during the night; do not be surprised if you come face to face with one of our night vigilantes ungulates. The glamping tents are adapted for 5 people and full equipped with made-up beds, reading corner, lamps and outdoor furniture, everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Safari Camp includes an exclusive lion or bear encounter. Follow our guides into the lion ball where the lions are free and you behind bars. There is usually silence when our lions majestically paw at the lion ball to enjoy a treat shared by our animal keepers. With the bears, you can learn more about how and where they live in the wild. Our pet sitters work to make every day fun and unique for them!

On the way back to the tent village, we usually turn past our giraffe stable or our bison. Either we get to see how the giraffes are doing indoors - high ceilings are promised here! Or we get to see Europe's largest terrestrial mammals and learn more about them.

When darkness falls, we are back in the tent village again. At 19.30 it's time for dinner - a fantastic barbecue buffet is prepared over an open fire by our guides (vegetarian options abound). Together enjoy food and drink in our slightly larger basecamp tent. We also have a small bar available for those who wish to purchase additional wine or beer. The buffet is topped off with a yummy dessert!

After dinner, the calm usually subsides. You enjoy the silence, of each other's company - or make new acquaintances (the children usually quickly finds new friends in the tent village, and likes to test theirs skills in our quiz walk). Before laying, we grill marshmallows over the last glow of the evening. After that, you get a good night's sleep after an eventful day. Those sensitive to sound may want to pack a pair of earplugs - lions and other animals roar and make sounds even during the night!

In the morning everyone is woken up by our guides who have prepared a solid breakfast buffet in basecamp. The morning light over the savannah is something quite extra, you often end up standing in silence with a cup of coffee in your hand looking out over the area.

Then it's time to say goodbye and head back to the cars. Before you enter the zoo, a shower and sauna are offered in Lagunen. From the sauna you can see our lovely dolphins and get ready for new adventures out in the park.

    Tip:

Safari Camp is not recommended for younger children. School age and upward is more appropriate.

You need to bring your own vehicle to visit Safari Camp. In the tent village there are real toilets in a separate building. There are sinks with running water here, but there are no shower facilities. You are welcome to freshen up the next day with a shower and sauna in Lagunen.

Feel free to bring your own snacks, but bringing your own alcoholic beverages is not allowed in the tent village. If desired, wine and/or beer can be purchased in our bar i the common big tent. There is of course also the possibility to buy snacks/sweets at the camp.

Dinner is served around 19:30, so it's good to have food in your stomach or some snacks in the backpack until then.

Specify dietary deviations at the time of booking (vegetarian, lacto-gluten-free diet does not need to be notified in advance). If you book online, it works good to contact our booking department on 010 708 70 00 with this info.
